Vintage breathtaking oil painting on canvas of Christopher Columbus commanding the Santa Maria followed by the Nina and Pinta by Stanley Woodward. Signed "SW" in lower right corner. Stanley Wingate Woodward was a well-known marine artist who lived from 1890 to 1971. He specialized in seascapes with lively wave action and published a manuel for students of this genre. The painting measures 36 inches wide and 24 inches in height and is in very good condition with three repaired tears, some crazing and in need of a good cleaning. |
